I have to Introduce You

⊆ May 4th, 2008 by Karin | ˜ Comments Off

Fanie

Since the people whose blogs I read feel like a second family, I thought I’d introduce you to my brother.  The most fun person to have around when you have the urge to play with a camera - and never short of a few laughs.  They’ve been visiting us for the past few weeks and tomorrow they’re moving onto their new jobs an hour away from here… but for tonight he played the fool with me and managed to pull various amounts of faces while I kept my finger on the button and the camera went insane with continuous shots.

Not much training this weekend due to a headache from hell…

So the picture will have to do :)

First Exam

⊆ April 28th, 2008 by Karin | ˜ Comments Off

This morning I’m taking my first AX exam and I’m looking forward to it, although I don’t know why. I’m not as confident as I was last week :)

The husband just left and went to work and left me to revise and make sure that I pass this exam first time round… I can only hope!  My head is going around and around and around.  Time to head off and revise a little more.

BT - admit it - You switched us off early

⊆ April 26th, 2008 by Karin | ˜ Comments Off

The past few hours we have been fighting a losing battle with BT.  We notified Sky during the week that we’d like to switch our broadband service to them and they then worked their magic and let us know that our broadband would be switching over on the 30th of April.  All well and dandy… until this afternoon at noon.

Suddenly our broadband connection was non-existent. Completely. Gone.

We phoned BT. And since then, they’ve been talking on the phone with the husband while I’ve been watching as he has been chased around the block doing little things that could not possibly be the cause of it. How do I know?

For one, the router’s light that informs me that I can surf the internet is off. Completely dead. Off.  And no, its not the router… because we plugged in our old one that works quite well in and even that one would not give us the connection we so badly crave. And boy… things have been reset and questions have been raised about our anti-virus software… and all to no avail, because 4 hours later we still have no connection and we don’t see any end in sight to this.

But I’ll listen to their babble and watch husband running around like a headless chicken while they send him around the block yet another time…

Edit : well, we have some connectivity, although the wireless router is connected to my pc via cable

20 Weeks to Go

⊆ April 21st, 2008 by Karin | ˜ Comments Off

This week is getting off to a good start. The office is insanely hot and no-one at the desk downstairs is answering the phone because it is too early for them to be here. Even if they are there.  I guess I’ll have to wait until 9am before I can breathe easily.

It was a quiet weekend in our house. Saturday morning we went to town to deposit some money and then went home and played around on the xBox 360 and Wii until we could no more. At some stage peg-leg went to the driving range with a friend and hit a few balls. The wind made it near impossible though and it was quite a laugh. I, of course, sat on one side and laughed at the directions these balls drifted into.

Sunday morning we went for a run, then to the store to get a pizza and finally, got home where I listened to music and dozed most of the day away while peg-leg made the most of the time to play his new game - something football (soccer) related.

By the time I went to sleep last night I was completely and utterly relaxed and ready for the week to start so that I could continue my path on the AX training route. I’ve done quite a bit so far, but by no means can I create anything worthy of the title ‘developer‘ yet.

Tonight I have a spinning class that should make me feel nice and tired and I need to get a 3 or 4 mile run in somewhere along the way as well…. thankfully I have a few hours before bedtime tonight so that shouldn’t be too hard to do.  Who knows, maybe I can run to the gym (although I don’t think I can make it in 40 minutes) and be even more tired when I start my spinning class :)

Have a fun day everyone!

Its too early to be Here

⊆ April 18th, 2008 by Karin | ˜ Comments Off

This morning I had to wake up early and come to work - for the  5th time this week… and all because I have some learn a huge amount of things in a very small amount of time.  I’m venturing into a new product and have to get up to speed rather quick in order to be of any use :)

Peg-leg came along as we had left his car at my offices last night when I took him for a celebratory supper after he passed yet another Microsoft exam in his quest to become certified (Or is that certifiable?) and move towards new and better things.  I guess its that time of life. We’re all making changes, hopefully for the better.

And the weekend approaches. I can’t wait. I’ve been hoping that the week would fly by and boy, did it.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

I’m just Chillin’

⊆ April 17th, 2008 by Karin | ˜ Comments Off

Its been a relatively tough week in terms of a lot of things, but right now I’m ready to just relax and get ready for the weekend. Me and my 7 manuals … and the 3 to come. And tomorrow I’m still in a training course.

So right now I’m watching Big Brother and shamefully sipping on my coffee and not caring about the fact that the next 3 months are going to be INCREDIBLY hard, no matter what. I’m going to have to work my arse off… and for what?

We’ll see!
